Nursery Decorations

I finally decorated the nursery some. As soon as they are both sleeping through the night both cribs will be in there.

9 month check up

We went in this morning for their 9 month check up. They are in the 95th percentiles. They are both 29.5 inches. Logan is 23 lbs 5.5oz and his head is 44.5cm. Alyssa is 22 lbs 12.5oz and her head is 46cm. All is going well. Logan's excema flared up again this weekend...it was looking so much better, but we have another dermo visit scheduled Wed so we will see where we go from here.

Alyssa is progressing in her walking everyday now. Last night she took at least 8 steps to Daddy.

Today while I was in the other room I heard the kids in the living room laughing a lot so I snuck in to see what they were doing...much to my surprise Alyssa was playing peek-a-boo with Logan. I had no idea they were smart enough to play it all by themselves yet. Not that it is a hard game...Mommy plays all the time, but they thought to play it on their own...Mommy is so impressed.

9/11

I still can't beeleve it has been 9 years already since the attack on the world trade center. I was at working at the bank and spent lots of the morning in the breakroom watching the news. Alex was in an insitute class.

This 9/11 was much better...we finally finished the closet project we have been working on almost all year. I say we, but in reality it has pretty much been Alex...and it is the most impressive project "we" havedone by far. I did my part in the planning, helping when the cut required 2 people, measuring, and did lots of painting...and occupied the kids the rest of the time...everything else was Alex.
While Alex was making some of the final cuts today Logan was standing at the back door and he learned how to knock :0) Here is Logan helping with the closet project.

Last weekend I paitned the pantry shelves we installed last year...since Alex said that he would paint the closet when I painted the pantry...talk about motivation...or calling him out on his bluff. We are excited the two projects are now done...I also finally have gotten to some of the vinyl projects I have been wanting to do for years now. Our family one has been cut and the one for the nursery is up.

9 months

9 months on 9/9. They grow and progress by leaps and bounds lately.

Logan loves to play with our glasses and likes to wear them. Alyssa just likes taking them off of us and has no real interest in wearing them. Logan went to the dermo again and is looking so much better. On Monday he cut his third tooth...the first on top. He is also getting very strong he has pushed the tote that we use as a barrier out of the way a few times, but luckily he does not do it all of the time YET. He is definately becoming more of a little boy and loves to make noise with whatever he can and likes to rough house with Alyssa. Logan is getting ready to start clapping.

Alyssa definately prefers to walk over crawl whenever possible. This morning she made some great strides in walking...she took 3 steps rebalanced herself and then took 3 more steps. She has recently decided that she likes the "clubhouse" as well. SHe is very profecient at clapping now and if she is in the mood and you say Alyssa Clap...she will. One of their toys plays the ABC song and the other day Alyssa showed us that although she can not sing the sing yet she definately knows it...reight before the song would end she would start spinning the roller that would start the song over again...she did it like 7 times...she would wait until almost the end then attack the spinner each time. We were so impressed. Alyssa is also acting shy sometimes now and will sometimes stnad against the couch and put her head down and start crying. Along with the strides she is also becoming a little more challenging. She started the cry when mommy leaves the room and when she comes back in the room when she is not in the best mood...this is making it a bit harder for Daddy as well. If she is not completely happy she wants you to know it.

They are starting to dance...it is so cute. Last night was the first time we put them in their bathtub and we gave them some toys. They were so cute splashing and playign with eachother. We are now wearing 12 month clothes...9 maybe still fit, but 12 are more comfortable.

Cousin Brody is 1 week today and we are looking forward to going back to Houston soon to meet him and play with everyone else some more. Uncle Stephen and Uncle MIke will be missed this visit.

Houston Visit

Seems like everytime we go to Houston the babies make great strides in growing and learning.
As soon as we arrived Alyssa found the stairs and went right up them...Logan was not as interested, but he made it up 4-5 steps and then was done. Alyssa started standing for more than 5 seconds while we were at my grandma's house. I am so excited she got to see that. Logan's second tooth came in and Alyssa's first came in.

We enjoyed the chance to spend some time with Uncle Stephen before he left for Afganistan. We took him out to lunch to enjoy a nice US burger before he left. He downed a full pound burger.

Unlce Mike is about to leave for school at Louisiana Tech so he may not always be there when we visit anymore...we enjoyed seeing him too. We actually got to spend lots of time with Grandma this visit since she was out on st disability from a surgery earlier this month. We got to play with cousin Elizabeth a lot and Aunt Kris as we all waited and hoped cousin Brody would show up during our visit. We got to see everyone else too. It is always great to have everyone together for a family picture...they keep getting harder and harder to come by. Our family has grown from 8 to 15.5 already. Soon to be double what we started at and the grandkids are just beginning.

We ended our trip with a visit to Lake Travis with almost all of the family. Daddy got to play on the boat and get really tired and sore. We celebrated Aunt Jenny's 27th birthday and on our way home we stopped by Daddy's old friend Aaron's house in Austin to wish him a happy belated 31st b-day.

8 months WOW!!!

News that is not baby related...I was laid off on Friday...I guess it is time to start watching our spending more closely. I am looking forward to more free time...maybe even some time to work of all the baby weight.

The kids have been saying Dada Dada for quite some time now with a very seldom Mama here and there, but I figured it was just the words that they could say and not that they knew what they were saying until very recently...maybe because it was Dada and not Mama. Now we say Dada, Mama and Ba (bottle). I am now convinced that they know what they are saying...they are growing way too fast.

I think Alyssa is a little jealous of Logan's longer hair because she is constantly pulling it. She has also become quite the binky snatcher even tough she does not use it as a binky but rather a chew toy for a minute and then she throws it down.

Logan is starting to try and climb up now as well and has tooth #2 trying to break through.

These kids seem to like playing on the outside of their toys more than the inside now...I guess they like the freedom of crawling away and going on to the next item at will. They also have a hand me down laptop that Mom used as a decoy so she could get some work done. They love typing.

They have been eating puffs for a while now and their older and wiser friend has introduced them to nilla wafers and ritz crackers. They are almost ready to turn their noses up at baby food and eat real people food...unfortunately Mom and Dad don't eat anything that they can really share with them. They have tried bread, mashed potatoes, celery, carrots, avocado, refried beans, and various fruits.
