We got our yard card nativity done and up :)
and I finished my Christmas wreath...turned out a little different than I had originally planned, but still pretty much what I was going for :)

2nd Birthday Party
Here are a few picts from our party. We had lots of fun eating pizza, cake and ice cream with our friends and family.
We got to celebrate with Grandma and Papa, Aunt Jenny & Aunt Cyndi, Uncle Billy & Aunt Kris, Elizabeth & Brody, the Daley's, the Dawson's, the Brazzeal's, the Ramos's, the Johnson's, the Bergquist's, the Pitts's, and the McDonald's.

Train Table
So I have been considering getting them a train table for a while now...although I am not a big fan of the price or the floor space it will take up, but I know the kids like trains and I would rather have a dedicated spot rather than putting together and takin apart train tracks all the time.
About a week after Thanksgiving I saw the one I had been looking at for $170 down to $100 so I talked to Alex about it and he did not seem very interested so I didn't get it and then the next day when I looked the price was back up.
So I kept looking online hoping that it would go on sale again...because now that I know the price will go down that much I am not willing to pay anymore than that. Well it went on sale again and I still don't get it and it went back up again the next day...to which Alex replied I asked you if you got it, but I still was not sure if he was for it or not.
So he went to work the next Monday and started sending me craigs list listings for train tables and we found one we liked...same model but a year older and a few additional trains for $85 so I e-mailed them and never heard back.
So Wednesday we find another train table...last years as well that is still in the box for $70...so I am thinking this is the one and I am all exctied since it is only $70, but they never e-mailed or called me back either...seriously people don't you know how craigs list works?
Anyways Friday evening I check my e-mail and the table is going on sale again Sat AM...so we bought it :)
Anyways that is not why I wanted to post. We set it up Sunday after church and the kids played with it all evening. Monday morning Logan woke up at 5 AM came and paced the side of my bed three times and then said "choo, choo" and went to the living room to play with his trains. To which I quickly jumped out of bed and told him...it is still time to sleep and made him lay down with me.
They played all day Monday with it. We had to take 3 trains with us to the Dr's office. At lunch time I asked Logan if he wanted to eat bites and he said, no play choo, choo. Alyssa did not want to go to bed last night either...she said I want to play choo, choo. They are loving this thing. Hopefully they continue loving it and it does not become a huge toy that takes up way too much space that they don't even touch. We will see, but as of now...we are getting our moneys worth :)

they are down for a nap and as usual I always think of more things after I post.
Alyssa will now stand in the front of the fridge and reach into the drawer and pull out cheese on her own now and she is such a good helper and started putting her dishes in the sink without being asked. This morning after breakfast I asked Logan to put his plate in the sink and he was too busy playing, but Alyssa got up from her seat took his plate to the sink and then sat back down and continued to eat. Seriously too cute!
Logan has now started taking his mattress off of his bed if he is ever in his room and not sleeping...so if they go back there to play or if he gets put down for a nap and is not ready to sleep the mattress will be in the floor the next time I go in there...he has never taken it off with me seeing so I do not know if he has help, but since it is only his mattress I think it is all him. He also likes to lie under the Christmas tree and look up at the tree. I bet it is a spectacular view. He has been crawling under the trampoline again lately and unfortunately Alyssa does not like to stop jumping so we have had a few problems. For a while now we have been keeping them in size 4 diapers during the day and size 5 at night since they can hold a little more and they are a bit more expensive so we have been putting of the switch...well about a week or two ago Logan started insisting on the size 5 diapers since they have a lion on the front. About a month or so ago they stopped liking to have their diapers changed and we always change them before bed so we would get them excited to change their diapers at night by offering the lion ones...well we are all lions from here to undies/panties now.
Almost 24 months...
I
guess I have to start referring to their age in years soon, but right now they
are only 23 months and 26ish days. We are excited that we will be having lots of
family and friends over for their birthday Friday night. I really do need to
sit down and plan it soon, but I think I will procrastinate a little while
longer...maybe that will keep them from turning 2.
They are amazing. I am truly amazed every day. Alex and I were talking last night and decided that Alyssa is officially a talker now. She has been surprising us this past week with the things she says. I know there were 3 different phrases and I am not sure if I remember them all.
One: We had just gotten in the car for a quick drive down to Cedar Hill (Joann’s I believe) and Alyssa said “Watch Belle Please”? Meaning can we watch belle on the TV in the car...to which I answered no we just watched...whatever we had just watched at home (and the TV in the truck is for longer drives...although they don't get that)...to which she answered “I said please”. Blew me away.
Two: Last night we were cleaning up getting ready for bed and as we were putting the alpha blocks away in the little wagon they came in we were 4 short...Daddy was borrowing them...so I told Alyssa Daddy had them...to which she replied “I need back”.
Sorry I don't remember the third...and I even had to call Alex and ask him about the second. I really do miss a lot when I do not blog often enough.
Logan went to the emergency room last Monday morning. He was breathing a little funny so we gave him his albuterol, a blessing and headed to the ER. By the time we got there he was fine, but we decided to take him in anyways. We spent about 4 hours there and it amounted to a lot of nothing...other than sleep lost, but better safe than sorry. We took both of them into the Dr. on Wed and Alyssa had a little infection in one of her ears and Logan is about to lose one of his ear tubes.
We figured out that Alyssa is fine with medicine...it is just amox that she does not care for...which is crazy since it taste like candy...so we have been having lots of milkshakes in the morning and at night to get her to take it...of course Logan needs one too.
We have had some rough nights lately, but the last week has been much better. Thank goodness. For some reason even when Alyssa just barely wakes up the first thing she does is call for mommy and then if that does not work she calls for daddy. Sometimes she will go back down and other times she just gets louder and louder and she just sits up in her bed instead of coming to us. Don't get me wrong I don't want her to come to our bed every time, but I would choose her walking across the house instead of me getting up and walking across the house :) This morning she did come to me so that was nice and it was 7:15 so I am OK with them being awake at that hour...but she decided to drink her apple juice and then go back down...it is 8:30 now and they are both down...so I am trying to quickly jot a few things down.
Logan for some reason has really liked playing peek-a-boo in the pantry lately. Alyssa will join him sometimes, but it is mostly him. He has also started hiding...and mot just when he needs a minute to do his business. I think he is about ready to play hide-n-seek, but when I look for him and ask “where is Logan” then he will reply...either saying “I don't know” or “I'm over here”… depending on his mood I guess. I am glad that he replies, b/c one time I really didn't see him...he ran into the back corner in the kitchen.
We have enjoyed the time we have spent with family lately. At the beginning of Nov G-ma came for a week and we had Aunt Jenny, Aunt Cyndi and Uncle Chris up for the weekend. Then Thanksgiving week we had Momo and Popo come and Daddy took the week off work. We miss them as soon as they are gone, but we are excited we will have some this weekend.
The kids are sweet at prayer time. They both say “Amen” now, and most of the time they will say “day” and “Christ”. They almost always say “Popo” before we get to him and “Papa” sometimes too. Logan still likes to agree by saying “Yes” when he should be repeating what we say.
Logan and Alyssa are learning to whisper...sometimes when I whisper to them, they will whisper back.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with our friends up here and Alex's parents. I think we had 25 total and most everyone hung around for a while chatting and playing. It was great...we should do it more often...they are like family to us as well so it was really nice.
The kids are getting more and more observant. They see flies flying around and the steam from the humidifier. When we were helping Daddy put up Christmas lights Logan was learning about rain and wet since it was sprinkling off and on. They really like the Christmas tree and leave it alone for the most part. When it first went up the ornaments were often thrown like balls, but not as often anymore.
They like to play catch now and say catch. We tried about 2 hours to potty train while grandma was in town (I thought two on two would be better), but my team lost. Logan went through 3 pairs of undies and Alyssa only went through one pair, but she peed in Grandmas shoe so that is when we surrendered.
They are starting to dress and undress themselves and are sometimes picky about what they are dressed in. Alyssa is really good doing her socks and shoes. So exciting...especially when I am trying to get the 3 of us out the door.
We have been trying to get them to say the names of animals, but they still won't. We ask can you say lion and they answer with roar. That is how they have answered what does a lion say for so long now, that they do not want to change I guess. Same goes for monkey and sheep etc. They only want to say what the animal says not the name of the animal.
They are starting to recognize and name colors now. I think Alyssa's favorite may be purple, but she calls it purples. Logan seems to like blue the most. They will say most of the colors, but the harder ones they will not say on their own, but they will repeat them as best as they can.
They recognize our cars in the parking lot and when they are waiting to get in the cars they have started knocking and saying knock as they wait for me to open the door. We keep telling them they do not need to knock on the car doors, but I guess they just like to :)
Alyssa has not liked to wash her hair for some time now and Friday night as Alex had them in the tub he told her Rapunzel and Cinderella wash their hair and she was fine with it after that...so yesterday when Logan did not want me to clip his nails I told him Mater and Lightning clip their nails he let me cut his too...he was still a bit hesitant, but he let me. Alex's comparison works a little better, but we both got the results we were looking to get.
The kids are up and I better feed them now, but I just wanted to mention that I FINALLY am getting the nativity yard card done that I have intended to make for the past 10 years or so now. It is cut out we just need to finish painting and creating the stand. Sounds like a good FHE activity to me :)
