Christmas has begun

Tonight our family joined the Activity Days girls from church (8-11 yr olds) on their activity to Bethlehem Revisited. It is a reenactment of the night of Christ's birth performed annually in Waxahachie, Tx. (about 30-40 minutes away)

We had a really nice time. It was not too crowded and not too cold. We were able to see life as it was back when Christ was born. The town was complete with an inn that was too full for Joseph and Mary when they went looking for lodging, merchants, animals and a stable where baby Jesus was born.

We witnessed the birth of our Savior and the arrival of the shepherds when they saw baby Jesus. They were very excited. They rejoiced and shared the great news with the rest of the town.

We were witnesses to King Herod's court in Jerusalem when he sent the wise men out to find baby Jesus.

We were able to sample some foods, the girls were outfitted with some head dresses, they received a coin from the blacksmith and a sample cinnamon stick from a spice merchant.

We will probably make it a tradition to go out each year. Christmas is a very special time of year and sometimes the birth of Christ can be hard to focus on with all of the Santas and snowmen surrounding us. This activity will help start each season off with our focus in the right direction.
