Summer week 2

With Memorial Day Monday our week was a little off schedule.

Early Monday morning...like 1:30 Grandma and Aunt Cyndi showed up...we waited until morning to greet them.

Monday was our swimming day and Daddy & Grandma & Aunt Cyndi got to come...Yippie!  The kids showed everyone how great they do jumping off the diving board and Logan even started jumping off without Mommy there to catch him.

In this picture he is being like all of the guys and even jumping over the pole.

With Aunt Cyndi :)

He was really tired we left at 4 and he was more than ready for his nap.

Since we did pool day Monday we ran errands on Tuesday. Mommy took advantage of the additional adults and did lots of running into the store real quick while the kids stayed in the car. Did some retruns that have been on the to do list forever...Sears, Academy & Lowes. Then we went to Cabana with Daddy and Doug for lunch.

Tuesday afternoon Aunt Cyndi was in the mood to bake so she had Alyssa help her cook up some cookies...when Cyndi asked do you want milk or white chocolate Alyssa answered...BOTH :)

Thanks Aunt Cyndi...I had yummy cookies to take to book club and a babysitter since Alex had a meeting :)

Wednesday we walked/played at the church and then went to Red Bird Park...and had lots of fun.

what a sweet smile

Lots of fun with slides and swings and friends :)

We went to lunch again with Daddy and Doug & Cassie at Jason's Deli and then we helped Cyndi pack up her washer and then had to say bye to them.

Today was Tiny Tot time at Chick-fil-a.  We always have a fun time...this time the kids actually participated MOST of the time...during the songs they were on the mats and singing...during the story they made their way into the playground.  We were really excited that our friends Melissa & Shane showed up.  Haven't seen them in forever it seems.  When we were leaving Alyssa asked...Where is Melissa going?  to Melissa's house.  Where is Shane going?  to Shane's house.  Where is Shane's Mommy going?  to Shane's Mommy's house :)

Now we are excited for the weekend home with Daddy :)

Summer week 1

I have come up with our tentative plans for summer.  Monday Mommy Walk (kids ride/play) & $1 theater for the kids (we will see how they do...they don't start until the 4th of June).  Tuesdays we go swimming at our friends house.  Wednesday Mommy Walk (kids play) again & we go to a new park.  Thrusday either Chick-fil-A or an outing.  Friday Daddy is home so our summer is Mon-Thurs.

After the first week of doing something everyday...I am exhausted :)  but we have had lots of fun...we will see how long we can keep it up and convince our friends to join us.

Monday this week we didn't have any friends show up so we hung out for a few minutes and then went home.

Tuesday we had a blast swimming...we already posted pictures.  Tuesday evening we had Daddy go with us to check out the new park...don't want to go anywhere we won't feel safe.  It was great.  Here are a few pictures from The Meadows Park in Cedar Hill.

We walked at church on Wednesday and then took our friends back to the park and had a great time.

Thursday we had our first outing...Royal Bounce at the mall.  Lots of fun and not too expensive...$4.5/kid.

we love pirates :)

We ended up eating at the mall and on our way out Alyssa used one of the kiddie potties...yippie! she gets a dum-dum (pop) when she gets home.

looking forward to the holiday weekend and plans for next week :)

Answers

These two are working on answering a few questions.  Just in the last couple of weeks Logan has learned how to say his name "Logie" so we have had lots of fun asking them what their names are and how old they are...they know they are two and will say it...we are still trying to get the two fingers up...and we have started asking...when is your birthday?...and have them reply December.  They still need a little prompting on this one.

Alyssa today

she loves to wear Potato head glasses...we have yellow and green
Things I left out on the earlier post.  I think Alyssa understands opposites, but she ALWAYS seems to get them backwards.  At home she will say...I want to go home when she wants to leave.  She will want her blankie on and say it is too hot, and she will tell you these glasses are too big.  Too cute :)

2 1/2 months of catching up...it will probably be a long one,

but the pictures are mostly uploaded already :)

I am a little mad at myself for being so behind again, but seriously we have a had a TON going on lately so I guess it is OK...I just know we are going to miss mentioning so many wonderful things the kids have done and said.

I think the biggest accomplishment is their language...no not adding Spainish to the mix...although I have told Alex they are soaking it all up now and he better do it.  They are speaking in sentences and surprise me daily with the words they know.  I heard Alyssa say Your Welcome the other day...and just this past Monday when I moved the couches to vacuum the living room...Logan put his foot in one of the ruts in the carpet and said...Mommy, my foot in a hole.  Probably about a month ago Logan changed from saying pick my up to pick me up.  And their prayers are even more exciting now...now they say thank your for this day and thank you for ...then they name a few things...and at the end they say in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen...all on their own.  They each have to say their own in their beds each night as well.

We are down to 1 nap a day...don't recall how long ago that happened, but in reading over the blog I didn't see it mentioned anywhere so here it is...probably near the beginning of the year.  We usually go down around 2 PM-4PM.  I am just glad they are still taking one...It is a wonderful time for Mommy...although with her new calling a lot of that time is spent in the scriptures.  I have been trying a lot of new recipes lately...I guess I got tired of the same old from the past 10 years.  I guess we are switching gears for a second and talking about what all I have been up to...I did some major spring cleaning...some file purging, moving baby gear to the attic, updating our 72 hour kits, and updating our important documents binder, valuables inventory with a lot of receipts...all kinds of fun stuff...oh and my friends will prbably not even believe this, but after watching the Hunger Games movie (they probably wouldn't believe that I went to the movies either) I READ both Catching Fire and Mocking Jay.  Church we had a Family Relations class during March & April and we really enjoyed it...lots of reminders of things we are not doing that we need to be doing like...dating (each other of course :)  I need to get some babysitting swapping going on.

Back to the kiddos...they are more exciting anyways...we have expanded our list of movies that we will watch...Grandma brought us The Muppets (frogs) and Lady & the Tramp (doggies or puppies) and we have also started watching Kung Fu (Panda) and Incredibles and How to Train your (Dragon) and we can not forget Treasure Planet (pirates).  Monday night A bugs life was on too so Tuesday we had to watch (bugs).  On a sad note the monitor in the truck died earlier this year so that stinks, but Aunt Jenny gave us her portable DVD palyer...so we can use it in the car or truck...but on our recent trip we brought (puppies) and wanted to watch, but Mommy forgot that is a Blue Ray disc.  I think Daddy is less about getting a TV in our room since we fixed our old TV and put it in the office and have let the kids watch in there while Daddy watched his TV.  I can not let them in the guest room anymore since they have started climbing to the top bunk...b/c that would shortly be followed by jumping from the bunk...and getting hurt.

Over St. Patricks weekend most of the Ruske family came up and while the guys golfed the girls and kids went to a magic show...it was fun...and even better FREE :)  Some other fun things we have done lately are went to the driving range with Daddy & Doug...in preperation for said golfing outing.  We also helped Daddy (and thankfully our wonderful friends helped as well) move our fence form the retaining wall to the ground...lots of hard work, but it is behind us now.  Our garden is in so they have been helping water with the hose and their cute little watering cans from Target a duck and hippo.  We bought some alpha magnets so we have done some tub fishing...no wonder Logan was able to catch a real fish.  Last week we went with Daddy to Camden Arkansas...nothing really exciting to report there other than we got to go with Daddy.  And surprisingly we have only been out on the boat a few times this season...I am sure we will make up for it very soon.  We had some friends help us weld some extra wheels and the wheels broke so we will see how the second set of wheels do next time we take it out.

We love toys...Alyssa is really mothering her babies and belles and puppies now even setting them at the table and lying them down for naps on pillows with blankets...and she is loving her kitchen...she packs up all of her dishes into her backpack all the time and wants to take them when we leave the house...and she is as fast as can be on her bike now...pedaling all over the house and the park and the gym...wherever we take her bike.

Logan is all about cars, cars, cars...and much to his delight on Monday I found his Big Lightning while super cleaning in the living room...really I was looking for my new shades the kids already lost, but I found it between the desk and the wall, behind the curtians...suspended above the electrical outlet...no wonder it was missing for 3 months...when he woke up from his nap I expected to hear...Big Lightning!  nope I heard  KA CHOW! over and over again.  This little boy has a crazy memory over the 3 months it was lost randomly every 3 weeks or so he would ask me about his big lightning...we are glad to have it back.  Logan however is getting a little lazier on his bike...scooting along the floor with his feet...maybe we need to raise the seat so he can't reach the ground.

The tracks on our train table have been removed a few times so that bigger cars and planes could play on the table.  Which is fine, but hopefully we don't lose any pieces or we will not get the track back together again...I hate missing things...we are still missing 3 puzzle pieces from 3 different puzzles.  ANNOYING!!!!  Maybe they are hiding out with my sunglasses and Alyssas slipper.  That is all I can think of off the top of my head that are missing at the moment.  Logan got a new puzzle about a month ago...16 pieces maybe, but this one does not have the picture in the background so we though it might be too hard for him...nope he did really well with it...and is looking forward to the Lightning and Mater one Aunt Cyndi is bringing for him next week...Alyssa has a tinkerbell one on the way as well.

Daddy broke down...no let me rephrase that...Daddy finally broke Mommy down and he got an i-phone.  I thought Alyssa was a whiz at them before, but now that Daddy has one...there is no stopping her now.

Pool time...

Well we had a blast at the pool yesterday...Daddy's do miss out sometimes while that are at work, but I took some pictures to share.

The...as I should probably call them when they are playing together...triplets Addie, Logan & Alyssa were hard to keep off the diving board...great workout treading water for me...the only drawback is I miss all of the fun talk at the other end of the pool.

By the end Logan even surpried me and was jumping in all on his own (with his jumper of course...and not off the diving board), but he let his head go under and everthing and was fine with it and kept doing it.  And he went all the way to the other side of the pool turned around and came abck as well.  My only concern is him getting too used to the floaties...I think I need to teach him how to swim, but he is still a little young for lessons I think.

Never before had I ever considered a pool with kids, but after he did so well yesterday...I may toy with the thought...I would love the option of swimming laps for exercise...I don't like to run, but I do like to swim...or at least I did :)
