35.25 months...2.9375 yrs

I have been good the past month and a half and written some things down...not nearly enough though.  Sunday night Logan got to do the HAPPY DANCE...he can identify all 10 didgits.  On a sadder note on Sunday Alyssa expericend her first tummy bug with throw up.

They say the most adorable things.

Alyssa has a few words wrong, but it is so cute.
Tissues = Bless yous
Poka dots = poke a nuts
Shamu = Shampoo
Santa Clause = Christmas

Logan has said some very cute things lately...yesterday Logan was playing with his train table moving the tracks around and then he stopped and turned to me and said: Sorry about the noise.

He has also said:"Pirates aren't tired Mommy", " I'm so proud of you Mommy", and he like to use the word PROBABLY.  When he is answering a question it will often start with probably (and then the answer)

Their imaginations are exploding.  They started to love dressing up, which was great timing with Halloween last month.  We had a great halloween.  This year a family of pirates...with all the bells and whistles...a sword, a hat, an eye patch, a mustache, pixie dust, boots, sashes, a treasure chest with gold dubloons, and last but not least...a pirate ship.

Words they use a lot lately are "busted", OK, FINE.

They like to put their seat belts on as well as bring a stuffed animal or two and buckle them in as well.

They like to toast...at Chick-fil-A the other day they were tosting their ice cream cones and saying "your'e the best".

While looking for costumes for Mom and Dad we went to the thrift store and found some dress up clothes for the kids including Super hero capes super cheap...they were running around the house saying "Super hero to the rescue"  we also got a spiderman costume and an incredibles costume to play in.

I think I have mentioned before that they like to use the workout bench in our room as a ship...while playing on it they always say Aye, Aye, Captain!

When they get out of the shower they started to throw off their hooded towels and say,"I am (then their names)  Don't really know where they got that from...I don't do it and I have never seen Alex do it either.

They still count to 14 then the next number for some reason is 11teen.

Alyssa loves to have her nails painted all the time now.

We pulled out the socks as the weather has started to change and then we were putting them on our hands...maybe we need to make/get some csock puppets.

They are really into shadows lately.  When going to bed they like to do shadow puppets on the wall, they notice shadows on the ground while we are walking and they try and step on other peoples shadows.

I really had not given them scossors until lately and they love them.  They do pretty well and make big messes of tiny pieces of paper all over the living room.

They have also learned some about fire.  They like to try and catch the steam off of hot food/drinks.  They like to blow out candles, and any time they see a flame you will more than likely hear them say "We don't play with fire"

They have started to really love piggy back rides and rides on shoulders.  Anytime I am low enough Logan tries to jump on my back.

Logans new favorite song is Ba Ba black sheep and he busts out singing it all the time.  They both love to sing and even get posessive of "their" songs from time to time.

We have lots of picts to post and another post or 2 dedicated to DISNEY!

The Kids First Hike

We went on a hike today with our friend Cassis and her doggies.  We did the ~2.5 mile hike with a break in the middle.  They enjoyed being outside, the beautiful weather, the overlook, the bridges, snacks at the pond, playing with the dogs, feeding the fish orange peels, and visiting with Cassie.  The did not however care for the few times each that they each tumbled.

They started out strong

The outing took us about 2 hours I think.  The last mile was by far the hardest.  Alex and I both carried about an extra 40 lbs. on our shoulders.  The kids were DONE!  Yes, we now know that if for some reason we hed to leave in an emergency by foot we would not get far very fast.  I  guess we need to start working out.

Halloween 2012!

We had a wonderful trunk or treat at church this year.  This is the second year we have done a family theme and I think we may try and continue to do so as long and the kids will let us.  SO FUN!  This year we were a family of pirates...we even had our own Pirate ship, treasure chest, and a dagger.

Here are a few more random shots of the kids gathering treats with their friends.

2.8 yrs

I was told I need to start tracking them by years now...here you go Aunt Cyndi...2.8 yrs.

so behind...33.5 months now

My kids are darling and they keep me busy.  I have not kept up, but I have tried to write a few things down so maybe I can keep some memories in written form.

They are constantly hiding from Mommy and from Monsters...thankfully Mommy is not a monster...YET!  I do see that coming soon.

Their vocabulary continues to grow...we now say cool, duh, busted, my favorite and I am sure many more, but these are the ones I have written down.  Also I now often hear coming...when I call for them.

Logan loves to learn...Alyssa loves to play.

Logan can recognize his upper case alphabet and we are working on lower case some now...but we still do not have our numbers...I think it would be easier since there are only 10 digits, but I guess we have focused on the letters.

Our imaginations are growing....I mentioned it on FB today but on our G block there is a lower case g and the other day Logan identified it as a toilet...yes...it does look like a seat, upright lid and a flushing handle.  The same day we popped some popcorn and Alyssa and I were holding the bowl and she took a piece and set it on the rim of the bowl and said it's a duck.

We are big helpers.  Still love to help "clean" and make beds.  Logan is our offical shower turner oner (Alyssa can't quite reach) and he loves to open the door for you...and I think Alyssa is our official prayer giver.  She always offers and is so cute.  We pray about so many random things that happen each day...like Logans bug on his finger and falling and getting ouchies and playing with friends and their Mommy & Daddy.

My kids also love to pretend they are animals now.  Alyssa will even wake up and the frist thing she will do sometimes is meow...typically she opts for the kitty cat.  Logan typically is the doggy, but they are also sometimes frogs, lions, bears, monkeys, and even a time or two Logan has been a dog/frog.

On September 11th this year we switched out their toddler beds for full on twin beds.  For about a week they would get up at least once after being put down, but now we are sleeping WONDERFULLY...we even let Alyssa sleep in her undies (instead of diapers)...we have had a few accidents and still do randomly during the day soemtimes...mostly in the bathroom, but she is doing awesome.  We started both on July 1st this year...less than a week and Alyssa had it down...Logan on the other hand we backed off of...until today I since he has been telling me randomly that he needs to potty...so today we are in shorts with no undies or diapers and we have succssfully used the toilet twice...he is currently napping so we will see how that went/goes.

Did I mention they are sleeping well?...it is so nice that they are sleeping well.  Not that they have been that bad lately, but oh so wonderful now.  Although I fear they are going to wan tto stop napping soon and that sadddens me...but then again I have been tryign for weeks to get them to stay up on Tuesdays so we can go swim with our friends during nap time and they are consistently napping then so we will see.

The last couple of weeks they have also started packing their back packs and climbing on their bikes and heading off to the office and telling me they are going to school.  I guess they picked that up from friends and/or the TV.

Speaking of bikes...a guy from Alex's work just handed Logan down a Lightning McQueen bike with 2 sets of helmets and pads.  AWESOME!  I was a bit concerned tha tis is a bigger 16" bike, but the kids are riding it in the house (with their helmets on...since the fall is fairly high for them).  We went to the consignment sale this weekend and picked one up for Alyssa for $35, but I don't think the training wheels on it came with it originally so we may need to pick another set up.  I was planning on starting off with the much smaller bikes, but their legs reach and they are doing it...so why even consider spending another $160 on bikes they will outgrow super fast.

We pretty much shop at Wal-mart and Sams and the kids LOVE the smiley faces that they put on the receipts for them at Sam's so recently no matter where we are shopping...ie Joann's, Hobby Lobby, Target...when we are walking out the door Alyssa wants to hold the receipt and I get to draw a smiley face on it for her.

We decided about a month ago that the kids shirts were getting a little short so we moved from size 2 and a few 3 tops and size 2 bottoms to mostly size 4 tops and size 3 bottoms.  Just kind of skipped over size 3 tops, but size 4 long pants are way too long still even for our tall Logan.

We have been to the Doc a few times recently for Logan and probably about a month ago they were both 36# and 37" and 39".  Which is super exciting b/c this fall we decided out of nowhere that we are going to take the kids to Disney Land just before they are 3 (still free, but old enough to enjoy it a lot) and to ride the cars in cars land you have to be 40".  So here is hoping for that Logan...sorry Alyssa I don't think you will get there :(

Right about the time we switched clothes we also decided on Disney so most of their t-shirts right now are disney and come to find out Alyssa loves Jessie right now.  I think it is her favorite shirt...sorry Merida I thought you would be the one.

But Alyssa does however LOVE showers recently and I almost feel like a newlywed again and can not seem to take a shower alone anymore, but I am glad she is loving them now.  She even likes to stay in after I am done and she will sit on the seat and jsut kind of chill.  Logan has started staying in too and they play while Mommy gets dressed then I get them out and dressed.  Thsi system is working much better than all of us out at once and Mommy gets you dressed then herself.

Although Alyssa does not usually want to sit and learn with us she has picked up how to count backwards.  She will be counting and I will hear 1-2-3-2-1.  I don't think she understands what she is doing, but she is awlfuly cute doing it.

Last thing I have written down is they are doing better in Sacrament meeting.  Still a little roudy/loud at times, but we are staying in our row and Logan is especially doing well while I run Alyssa to the bathroom EVERYWEEK and he sits and plays and couldn't mind any less if we were there too.  I have been changing stuff up.  We had 2 bags that had a bunch of activities in them and we would swap bags each week, but I am trying to minimize them now and this week I only brought a few cars and some colors and we survived.  I have also been tryign to cut back on treats.  We used to bring their cups and refills...now only 1 juice box each...which they want as soon as we sit down...and only a small container of snacks...instead of snacks, fruit snacks, and apple sauce.  Again I am trying to hold off on the snacks until after the sacrament is passed, but we are not quite there yet, but definately improving all around.

We had a fun trip in July to San Antonio and got to see everyone but Mike and Momo...we even got to meet Caitlin (Stephen's girlfriend).  Yep, both sides of the family showed up for bits and pieces :)  We took the kids to Sea World and they had a blast with all of their cousins.  We also went to Katy a few times and College Station...and have taken quite a few friends out on the boat this season.  We are really looking forward to see Uncle Stephen and soon-to-be (December 29th) Aunt Caitlin this fall while we visit California and hang out with our Disney pals a bit.

This post would not be complete without mentioning that Aunt Jenny & Uncle Chris are expecting our little girl cousin Henley at the end of February and Uncle Stephen and Aunt Caitlin are expecting about 2 or so weeks later...gender to be announced soon.

We will be adding a summer in pictures post as well to back up all of my claims :)

Summer week 8

We got back to our usual schedule… walk/bike Mon & Wed, but I think I was still recovering b/c both days I pushed our walking/biking to 9:30.  Skipped the movie AGAIN Kung Fu Panda…we’ve got it.

Monday night we did swim lessons again.  The kids really are doing great.  We got them kick boards and goggles so they could see underwater as well.  They love it…and Logan was able to float on his back unassisted…so excited!  They are swimming well for very short distances and are now getting really good at kicking.

Tuesday we went swimming with our friends and the kids were little fish and were all over the place.

Thursday was Chick-fil-A tiny tot time.  Both kids were on the mat at least 2 minutes each J  Yippie!

Friday was Cow Appreciation Day so we were back at Chick-fil-A again, but this time we brought Daddy.  We wore our cow hats and got free entrees.  The kids got to see the big cow…at first they were not sure, but then we did the chicken dance with Mrs. Peggy and before we left Alyssa made me take her to see the cow again so she could give him a hug.  Even more exciting than 4 free entrees (saved $12) was that we trusted Alyssa to go out in  public with her panties on and she did GREAT!  While at lunch we went to the bathroom and everything was great and we went to a few more stores and did not have any problems.

Saturday was our Ward Pool Party.  We had a long afternoon in the pool with great friends.  Logan was doing lots of swimming where he would put his face in the water and kick, kick, kick…he is doing wonderfully.

I need to brag on Alyssa a little.  Yesterday we let her go to church with her panties on b/c she has been doing so well.  SHE DID IT!  We left sacrament twice and both trips were justified and she was nice enough to wait until after my Sunday School class was finished to go again.  No accidents J

Summer week 7

July is off to a busy start, and we are so glad that the weather is not as bad as it could be.

Monday was the ususal walking/biking at the church.  No movie again this week...it was How to Train Your Dragon...and since we own it and watch it frequently I decided we could save $10 and stay home.

Tuesday we swam with our friends and had a blast :)

Wednesday was fun...it being the 4th we had Daddy home with us...we went to the Dawson's pool and had burgers with the Huntingtons who were house/dog sitting.  Then we went home and took naps...when we woke up Aunt Jenny was here and then we all went to Joe Pool to enjoy the lake and fireworks.  The lake was amazing...and the fireworks were as well...next year we will try Cedar Hill side...Grand Prairie side was nuts...and the boat ramp was horrible.

The pictures are not great since we were swaying in the boat the whole time.

Thursday Daddy stayed home again and we took Aunt Jenny to the Dallas World Aquarium with us.  It was kind of crazy at first with a big field trip arriving at the same time we did, so we hung back and waited for our friends to show and then it cleared out pretty well.  We got to see lots of birds, monkeys, feed a bird, see tons of fish, penguins, two manatees, alligators, a Jaguar, and walk through the shark aquarium tunnel...we were literally surrounded by them :)

Then we finished with a late night drive in.  Brave at 9 and Avengers at 11.  We almost made it through both movies, but the kids were done and would not settle down so we did not get to finish Avengers.  So, we will just wait until it is out on video.

Friday we recovered from all of the business of the week and were running Aunt Jenny's car from shop to shop trying to get it fixed so she would be able to make it home without her car overheating and hopefully not dying...we were excited that she got to stay another day, but sad that it cost her about $900 to fix the car.  OUCH!

Aunt Jenny was able to do her job, get her car, and head out on Saturday just in time for Mommy & Daddy to drop the kids off at the Vandygriff's to play with Heather, Travis, Melissa, and Shane while the parents went to the temple.  Perfect way to finish off a wonderful week.
